She gets ditched by him and ends up as a personal assistant to Jamie Streicher who moved to the Vancouver hockey team to support the mental heath of his mother. When he finds out my ex was terrible in bed, his competitive nature flares, and he encourages and spoils me in every way. I really could not get enough of Pippa and Jamie, this book quickly became one of my favourites and I can’t wait to read the next book, which I gratefully received as an ARC. The characters worked together instead of against each other to get what they wanted and that is so refreshing to read!

I loved hockey romances and I loved the chance to read a hockey romance by one of my favourite authors! His characteristic mental strength, positive visualization, and self-belief comes from his career and he instills that confidence into Pippa. But it was too drawn out for me and I found it easier and easier to put down to the point at 80% I hadn’t touched it in three days!Jamie is a goalie for the Vancouver Storm, he has recently been signed by them to be closer to his mom, who has panic attacks. Over time they learn much more about each other until they each finally reveal that they remembered each other and had crushes.

pippa hartley is standing in my living room, playing with the dog, and i can’t breathe" AND SHE THOUGHT HE DIDNT REMEMBER HER🤭 i was giggling and kicking my feet like an idiot the whole time. The storyline was quite weak and the concept of an aspiring singer who just needs to be told they’re good enough over and over is quite tired and made me cringe out loud. ngl it got kinda slow towards the end, but there's no third act break up so i guess that makes up for it.And also sincerely, I’m tired of female characters who don’t have good sex lives before meeting the H.

i really enjoyed how the story arc was done for jamie’s relationship with his mom - the mental health rep for both of them was very believable. there were so many times where i had to read over some of the scenes because i couldn’t believe my eyes. the setting was fun, hockey and forest walks etc, loved the little community of his hockey team and her sister tooo. Alas, the publishing industry’s insistence on marketing smutty rom-com books with YA-looking artwork continues, and the first two books in Archer’s new ‘Vancouver Storm’ series are no different: Behind the Net, a grumpy-sunshine love story between a star hockey goalie and his assistant; and its sequel, The Fake Out, with a fake dating scenario between another player and the hockey team’s physical therapist. Try as she might to keep her distance from him, Hazel can’t help but feel drawn to Rory’s warm nature, amazing smile, six-foot-two-million frame, never-ending stream of generous (and usually inappropriate) gifts, and his determination to make her his girlfriend, for real. Loved the steamy scenes in this book especially when he was trying to help her…you know what ☺️ for the first time.

the characters where adorable together and there's something about a hockey romance that's just inherently comforting.imagine you're lowkey destitute so your sister is able to swing you a job as an assistant to a pro hockey player. Between wearing his jersey at games, rowdy parties with the team, and being brave on stage again, I’m falling for him.
