An alien race, undefeated by any existing military unit, has launched a relentless attack on Earth, and Major William Cage (Tom Cruise) finds himself dropped into a suicide mission. The overall tone of the soundtrack remains one of superb dynamics, with weight in the lower register perfectly married to crystalline detail in the higher frequencies. The upscaled transfer enjoys a welcomed uptick over its Blu-ray predecessor, showing better details and lines in the exoskeleton suits and in the individual Mimics. Facial complexions appear more natural and accurate with a realistic peachy-rose tone in the entire cast and revealing, lifelike textures, making for a fantastic upgrade over its HD SDR counterpart.

There are subtitle tracks available for English, German and Italian Hard of Hearing (HOH), with additional subtitles tracks in French, Spanish, Japanese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Hindi, Hungarian, Korean, Mandarin and many, many more! The film utilizes varying chromatic schemes, incorporating splashes of vivid color, that appears faithfully reproduced in Ultra HD. My audio/video ratings are based upon a comparative made against other high definition media/blu-ray disc. DTS-HD MA track that was known for being a raw and unfiltered track, with no high pass filters and a jaw dropping 15 second sine wave scene at the opening of the film.Come join the discussion about home audio/video, TVs, projectors, screens, receivers, speakers, projects, DIY’s, product reviews, accessories, classifieds, and more! Home Entertainment in this Ultra HD Blu-ray/Blu-ray/Digital Combo Pack featuring faithful and complimentary Ultra HD video, reference quality surround sound that includes a head turning Dolby Atmos listening track and, legacy bonus features.

Even quieter, more dialogue-driven moments sustain the 3D envelopment with subtle yet audible ambient effects circling all around and moving overhead. This site is a destination for AV enthusiasts to share experiences, opinions, and ideas with others, eschewing egotistical debate, with an end goal of helping each other design and tweak systems to reach this “nirvanic” state. Honestly, I find the various frequencies on the Atmos track to be better delineated as opposed to sort of blending together.

While it’s certainly true that Tom Cruise’s ego is as large as the whole of the known universe, and he could easily survive being plugged into the Total Perspective Vortex, it’s important to remember that egotism manifests itself in different ways. How can you not like a movie that takes elements of Japanese Manga, genocidal war, Oblivion and mix it in with Groundhog Day?

And so to get this image on the disc, we look at the compression used – a quick scan of the bitrates employed throughout the film appears to show consistent and excellent compression being utilised, resulting in no noticeable artefacts or anomalies being observed: bit rates show a very healthy average of 80mbps consistently across the entire film, with the odd peak nudging just over 103mbps during specific scenes. Though, I think Edge of Tomorrow can count as it was a movie that barely crossed a finish line, though everyone loved it when it was released. But there’s another possible reason why Cruise has never had to (or had the opportunity to) reboot his mojo. Had they cast any other action-movie stud in the lead role, Edge of Tomorrow would have remained a clever, knowing nod toward the Sisyphean self-image held by most FPS gamers (who would probably just as soon fire up their consoles than watch Cage fail over and over and over).

A quick comparison of the new 4K picture against the included 1080p Blu-ray (which is the same disc as released previously) easily illustrates the improvements that even an upscaled 4K picture can bring. Since 2001, we've brought you uncompromising, candid takes on the world of film, music, television, video games, theater, and more.

The desaturated images now reveal subtler variations of color, and the shimmering outlines of the aliens also come into clearer focus. I also appreciated the effectiveness of the added dimension during sequences where subtle special cues replicated the environments contained in the scene.

Storming the Beach: Dive into the trenches for a gritty look at creating the film’s epic sci-fi battle. The Omega can actually manipulate time and every time one of the commanders is killed it resets the day, and then they can repeat what happened, but with fore knowledge so that they can exterminate their prey. The 1080p transfer of Edge of Tomorrow is a solid one and this Ultra HD rendering takes it up a notch with a discernible increase in detail, color depth, and emboldened highlights, both light and dark.
