So much to see on each page spread that children will be enthralled and wrapped up in this book for many readings and re-readings . A wonderful introduction for young readers to delights of the Tower, Buckingham Palace and a host of London landmarks. This is a delightful story of Katie and her younger brother Jack visiting London with their Grandmother. This review is on behalf of my twin almost-three-year-old associates, whose cousin, now 12 , passed on four books that she thinks she has grown out of.

They see a lot of historic spot in London, such as St Paul's Cathedral, The Tower of London, River Thames, Tower Bridge, Globe Theatre, London Eye, Big Ben, the ahouses of Parliament, red double-decker buses experience, Buckingham Palace. Katie and her brother go out with their Grandma one day, she asks them to sit down by the Lion on Trafalgar Square and wait for her and so the fun begins! Flo has it in her class at school and is excited to go to London to see the sites and to see the lion. Finally, for a literacy lesson you could make story boards of the events of the great fire of London. This one is introducing the city of London and I think it would work well for both children familiar with London as well as those who have never been.On their travels with the lion they visit St Paul's Cathedral, The Tower of London, Tower Bridge and some of the sights along the South Bank like The Globe Theatre. When Katie and her brother Jack visit London with Grandma, they don't think there's much to see and do.

Tonight we reread it (my 9 year old and I) as we are about to spend 5 days in London seeing as many of the sights in the book as possible! Feelings are important too – young readers will like the touching ending when Katie and Jack hand over a woolly blanket, purchased at Harrods with the last of their pocket money, to keep the lion’s tummy warm. When the children have finished all of their work helping with the presents and made it home there is something special under the tree.

My only criticism would be that London looks a lot cleaner in this story than how I remember it when I lived there! Children's books set in London are always popular and this is a particularly charming story of a girl having an adventure riding one of the Trafalgar Square lions.

When Katie and Jack are woken up late on Christmas Eve by a loud sneeze, little do they realise that they are about to embark on the most amazing evening!

At Trafalgar Square they meet a talking stone lion, and he takes them on a wonderful tour of the city. What initially comes to mind is using this story within geography and using maps of London to pinpoint the famous sights mentioned within the book.

Katie and her brother are taken on a tour of the sights of London, they take in Trafalgar Square, The London Eye and Buckingham Palace in the company of their friend the Lion. It is accepted by you that Daunt Books has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance. When Katie and her cousin Jack visit London with Grandma, they don’t think there’s much to see and do. In a PE lesson you could link it to the fire of London and do lots of movements that could represent a fire spreading.I expect this book will bring up the children's experiences of London and places they have been with their families. Featuring many of the key sights of Britain's capital, this storybook has become a bestselling introduction to London, and a perfect story for children visiting the city for the first time. Not everyone will be acquainted with London and its famous sighs, children new to London will enjoy it, children who have visited these sights will enjoy revisiting them through this story, and a class teacher could use it as an introduction to a visit into central London. My daughter enjoyed spotting the Queen waving from her window, and as we have visited London several times it was interesting to see some of the places we have been to in a story book.
