A gas source. In Greece most people used to have gas stove tops, nowadays these have been replaced with electric stove tops, which I am not very fond of, as I cannot see flame. Since most people no longer have gas stove tops, here they use what you call a gazaki, it is a single camping gas burner. Traditionally this type of coffee is made in what is called hovoli, which is basically heated sand.

The SAKI is one of the best automatic electric Turkish coffee makers for those on a budget. That’s because it’s around half the cost of the other models in our review. This Turkish coffee pot is good for a range of stovetops, including gas, ceramic, or electric. However, induction stovetops are unsuitable.

Metrios: Metrios, which is the most popular coffee type in Greece, is semi-sweetened. It is neither too bitter nor too sweet. Greek coffee is the traditional coffee of Greece, as the name suggests. Although it is very similar to the traditional coffee of Turkey and the countries surround it, there are some differences that distinguish them apart. If you go to Greece one day, you might be fascinated by how good it tastes and how similar it is to Turkish coffee. Let’s move on to see what else you should learn about Greek coffee. What Is Greek Coffee?

Put the briki on the stove on medium to low heatand stir until the coffee and sugar are thoroughly mixed in. If you want milk in your frappé or filtered coffee, the Greek words you can use are “ me gala”. Different types of vegan milk are also widely available.Glikos: This style of Greek coffee is not bitter at all so it is ideal for people who like some sweet coffee. When you’re done preparing your Greek coffee, you typically drink it in a Demitasse cup. What are ‘Demitasse’ Cups? Greek coffee is prepared according to preference and there are four main types. For each type you will need different amount of sugar and coffee. Try experimenting to find out which one suits your taste.

Technological advancements mean that even a brewing process as ancient as Turkish coffee is subject to modernization. Electric Turkish coffee makers remove the hassle of producing the coffee for you from scratch. You will need to measure the finely ground coffee into the brew chamber and pour water into the tank. However, beyond that, the push of a button will be all you’ll need to enjoy a cup of Turkish coffee. These days, it’s more common to use a gas stove or cooker to prepare Greek coffee. Yet, a handful of coffee shops still use the authentic method! Greek coffee culture Ran Berkovich @berko, Unsplash Greece may not be the first place in the world that comes to mind when you think about coffee, but the Greeks love their coffee. Coffee is an integral part of Greek culture, and I can’t think of many other better places in the world to sit and enjoy coffee than in a taverna in Greece.
