Dropping food into the container is a joy compared to the taller, thinner, containers. It's easy to reach in and there's plenty of room to get smoothie ingredients for one down at the bottom close to the blade. Unlike those thinner containers it doesn't much matter if you drop the ice or the soft food in first. Celebrate 100 years of innovation with this Special Edition. The 100th Anniversary Collection includes everything you need to enjoy healthy meals at home or on the go. You’ll love how easy it is to explore new flavours, textures and ingredients.~ Smoothie performance: We used each blender to make a smoothie using the same amount of pineapple, kale (leaves and stems), and orange juice. To create an objective comparison, we blended each smoothie on high for 15 seconds. After tasting for flavor and texture, we ran the rest through a fine sieve to see the size of bits left behind. For blenders with smoothie-specific settings, we tried those out in separate tests also using leafy greens.

Similarly, the accessories only extend to cups and small processing bowls at present; when larger processing bowls or a small blender jug might be more useful. The tamper, at least, is standard, and is especially good for nudging stubborn ingredients towards the blades. There’s also a recipe book in the box, which is a must for making the most of a pricey machine. Why buy the Vitamix Ascent A2300i? Similar to the Ascent 3500 model, this combines a variable speed dial with a digital timer and wireless connectivity that recognizes the blender jar size and adjusts the programs. It can also connect to the Vitamix Perfect Blend app and to the Perfect Blend Pro Smart Scale for precise measuring as you cook. More importantly, this has an impressive amount of power and can blend just about anything you put in the container. If all you do is make smoothies, and maybe an occasional margarita. There's still nothing quite like a Vitamix. The ice crushing power is pretty incredible. Still, that's probably not all you want to do with it so let's talk about some of the other features. This excelled in our tests, blending an aerated smoothie with a very smooth texture. When it came to making peanut butter, we found that the wide and large container is best suited for larger batches. If you know you'll be frequently blending up small quantities, there is a compatible 32-ounce container sold separately that will be best suited for those recipes. Noise: As we ran our tests on each blender, we noted the maximum decibel level it registered. None of the machines were silent, but noise levels ranged from 70 decibels—similar to a vacuum cleaner—to over 90—similar to a lawnmower. One of the features we loved most was the Vitamix Perfect Blend app. The app wasn’t mentioned in the manual or cookbook that came with the blender, but we knew it existed from seeing it mentioned online. We found it easily, installed it on our phone (it’s free), and connected it to our blender. The app can pair with a wireless scale (sold separately) that makes it easy to measure ingredients right into the blender jar, but the recipes can be made without the scale as well. Pizza dough done in a blender? And a blender that cleans itself too? Wow the good people at Vitamix really know what they’re doing when it comes to blending… Food prep made simple with a blender by Vitamix At this point make sure you've got the lid secured because you are going to make a mess otherwise. There's not much ability to start slowly even if you've got the power turned down. There's a lot of power and it jumps to life rather suddenly. The lower speeds are more than enough power for crushing ice and aren't too loud. Turn the dial towards full power though and get ready for a lot to happen. Not only is there lots of noise but the air expelled from the side is pretty dramatic. There's no second guessing that this is a powerful system when you watch it spinning at full power.

Established in 1939, Vitamix specialise in high-powered blenders which can be used for all manner of tasks around the kitchen. Ever since 1949, when founder William G. Barnard created the first infomercial about how his Vitamix blender could help families live healthier lifestyles, Vitamix have revolutionised the way in which we use blenders to support a healthy lifestyle. There’s a pulse function, too, which rather than giving a burst of maximum power, corresponds to the speed on the dial, meaning that you can use a low burst of power to chop or knead, and a high one for crushing. We found that despite its simplicity, this is still a great blender worthy of the Vitamix name. The 32-ounce container has a curvier look than Vitamix's classic boxy design, and its rubber lid does come with an opening for adding and tamping down ingredients. We found that a frozen margarita, banana smoothie, and aioli came together perfectly, with the aioli staying creamy for a few days. This machine has above-average performance, easy cleanup, and simple operation. That said, this was the loudest of the blenders we tested.

A large capacity blender with muscle

Vitamix recently launched a food processor attachment, which resembles a traditional 12-cup food processor bowl with a multiuse blade and two reversible shredding/slicing discs. The attachment only works with the more tech-savvy Ascent and Venturist blenders, though. We were thoroughly impressed with its ability to blend smoothies, iced lattes, rice flour, and even whipped cream. We even used the blender to turn the whipped cream into butter, which turned out perfectly, as well. For something a little more high-tech, consider a touchscreen interface with programs for hot soups, dips, spreads, and frozen desserts. Some even come with built-in timers and wireless connectivity that reads container sizes to adjust program settings and maximum blending times accordingly. If you want to connect to your smartphone, there are options for that, too.
