We have shown which model of pram the mattress will suit, however most will be multi-fit so they will suit others brands. The Cosatto Ooba chassis has great functionality it is clear that time has been spent to ensure that it will do everything a mum (or dad) could want. It is a shame that the Ooba cannot quite meet the, admittedly, very high quality level of the other brands in this price range. Seat The safest place for a baby to sleep is in their own cot, moses basket or crib in the same room as you. I really am glad that I have been given this chance of working with Cosatto and reviewing theCosatto Ooba 3-in-1 Travel System as I have fallen head over heels in love with it and I adore getting to go out and push Joseph about in the pram. Cosatto are without doubt one of the THE movers and shakers in the pushchair arena right now. The Ooba is yet another product that combines sensible pushchair design with on trend colours and materials to produce a very desirable product.

The Cosatto Ooba Travel System is a brilliant ‘all in one’ pushchair option, with a carrycot, car seat and a ‘big seat’ for toddlers and older babies. It has an adjustable handle feature and big shopping basket, and comes with a changing bag, foot muff and rain covers for both the seat and the carrycot. It also comes with a removable apron and a carry handle built into the hood to make it easy for transportation. The liner is removable and washable for easy laundering. The hand brake is not convenient (a bit stiff and difficult to use in a rushed moment); a foot brake would definitely be a preferable option, and it might also be a good idea to rethink the white wheels, which are filthy in seconds. It does have good suspension and is good on all terrains – and a clever idea to change the direction of the handlebar so that the larger wheels are at the front when using the pushchair off road. When you baby reaches 6 months of age, transform the travel system into a pushchair with the seat unit, which can be either inward or outward facing, and boasts a multi-position recline and leg rest for comfortable travelling. With instructions, the system is easy to set up (albeit time consuming) and interchanging between all the different options is effortless. The chairs are roomy and comfortable, and neither the car seat nor the travel system (as a whole) is too heavy. Kerbs can be a challenge but this is more likely a result of wheel positioning than weight.

A long pram too, means that although Alexander is a tall 19 month old, he will have at least another year and a half of pram time with the Ooba. What you do get though is a pushchair that will stand out from the crowd, something new and something that is clearly ‘on trend’.

The Ooba comes with two parts, the carrycot which is suitable from birth (and absolutely gorgeous… almost enough to make me want a newborn to put in it) (HAHAHAH oh god I need a stiff drink just at the thought) and the seat which is where King Hux would be sitting. This photograph was taken as he was crying and desperately claw his way into the pram which says it all. The kid loves it, what can I say? The Cosatto Ooba comes complete with a carrycot that is suitable for occasional overnight sleeping. It weighs 3.6kg. On initial inspection it looks quite shallow. Passing a tape measure across shows it to be plenty deep enough though at 15cm. It is 74cm long and 32cm wide which is actually a very good size. The hood is attached to the handle which comes up to 90 degrees. At the top of the handle there is a foam ‘grip’ making lifting a little more comfortable. Why do I need a new mattress? At Baby Birds we recommend new baby, new mattress’ there has been many researches on babies and their sleeping environment. I’ve never been one of those mums, you know, who are really in to their prams. I’ve go a couple of friends who go through a different pram every six months but for me it’s never been that important ( changing bags, on the other hand…). I had my Bugaboo Bee+ for Elfie and when Hux arrive the fleet expanded by a double Phil + Teds. I’ve always been pretty happy with these two, they get the job done without any fuss – what more could we want? Easy to transform, the Ooba can be used in carrycot, pushchair or infant car seat mode (Port car seat available separately).

Position your baby at the foot end of the crib so baby’s feet are at the bottom of the sleeping area. That way your baby cannot slip under the covers. The harness is 5 point with crotch and chest protectors. It is simple to adjust and you can do it up one side at a time, one handed, which is great when trying to deal with a reluctant child. There are 2 positions for the shoulder straps which can be altered via the rear zipped access panel. The carrycot is suitable for all weather conditions, with its UPF 50+ sunshade protection hood and a raincover with zip.The seat is incredibly comfy and the straps easy to do up, a must when you’re wearing gloves/have cold hands/a wriggly toddler. Because Hux is a stubborn thing and doesn’t like to sleep when he’s in the pram (he prefers to grumble annoyingly because Mama is trying on yet another pair of jeans) we haven’t tested the recline capability so much, but Elfie loves to ‘pretend’ with it.

It is well documented that chemicals used in foam mattresses can cause irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, and skin. So Baby Birds have produced their own range of chemical free baby mattresses. The day it arrived I was pretty excited. It matched my carpet! Look at that print! The beautiful blues! You can’t deny this is one good looking pram. I set about unboxing and building it, something I managed on my own and with minimal fuss (score one Ooba, the Bugaboo was not this easy).

To unfold, simply lift up the handle and swing out the front wheels. Install the seat and off you go. Conclusion At the end of the dropdown we have listed our template range – they are made to measure as the mattress is a bespoke size. The Cosatto Ooba Travel Systemis suitable from birth, and features new multi-terrain wheels and a lightweight aluminium chassis. The bumper bar is gate opening and fully removable. It comes covered in a contrasting faux half-leather (not shown) and can be zipped off for cleaning – nice touch... I love the leatherette handle which gives comfort whilst pushing it and the brake on the handle makes it super easy to put on and off. Putting it up and down is a little bit of a fuss as you have to take the seat unit off but to be honest, I’m not planning on putting it down much so this doesn’t affect me.
