The SKX007 just has way more mod parts that are available for it compared to the newer Seiko 5 Sports series. We think this might be due to the fact that there were only 2 SKX007 variants when it was released, making it the perfect canvas for Seiko modders to exercise their creativity and customise one to their liking.

And with the more recent release of the SRPE 5 Sports watches, it is clear that Seiko is moving away from the budget divers watches and into the budget sports watches category. Is this simply a ploy to get more people to get a Prospex watch for their diving collections, or are Rolex Explorer style watches really the way to go? After spending some time with this watch, I concluded that if Seiko were going relaunch the Seiko 5 line, they should have started with this watch and not the 5KX. This watch makes so much more sense in the Seiko 5 line than the 5KX. Not that the 5KX doesn’t belong in the Seiko 5 line; Seiko has always included dive-style watches in the 5 line. It doesn’t make sense to start with the 5KX. When comparing the SRPE to the SKX however, the difference is glaringly obvious - most of the Seiko SKX mod parts are not cross-compatible.

The markers and hands are filled with Seiko’s LumiBrite lume and will glow just as fantastically as any other Seiko you have seen. If you’re not familiar with Seiko lume, it will glow brightly at the slightest touch of light and last for hours. Leather strap watches tend to fit without a problem for most wearers. However, watches fitted with metal bracelets often need adjusting to get the perfect fit. When purchasing a watch which has a metal bracelet with adjustable links, we will gladly adjust the watch bracelet to fit your wrist before sending the watch to you - free of charge! For women, dainty, fuss-free designs in silver sit alongside more striking pieces, featuring two-tone steel and gold, as well as sparkling diamond finishes that befit their iconic logo. If they simply refreshed the SKX with the 4R36, people would have been ecstatic. Source: WatchReviewBlog

You can describe the SRPE as being simple, but well-executed as a watch. It still has a presence on the wrist, though not as overt as its diving predecessor. The non-rotating bezel is minimalist, making it almost like a field watch in appearance, especially the ones that come standard in a NATO strap.

Everett’s Take on the Seiko 5

It’s always nicer to look at a beautifully decorated movement with cotes the Geneve, pelage, etc., but it’s important to have in mind the concept of this watch. Watches whose movements are decorated with utmost care and perfection are primarily found in dress watches which are meant to be pieces of art. But the Seiko 5 SRPE55K1is not built as a piece of art, but rather as an everyday tool watch. Reference Number: SRPE51, SRPE53, SRPE55, SRPE57, SRPE58, SRPE60, SRPE61, SRPE63, SRPE65, SRPE67, SRPE69

The size hits a sweet spot of 42.5mm too, which is a great size for most wrists and doesn’t look overly large - a common theme with diving watches. A small detail to mention is the crown position at 4, making it more comfy to wear as the crown and crown guard will not directly hit your wrists. There’s not much to compare between the SRPE and SRPD watches because they are all under the Seiko 5 Sports mantle. Aside from the watch being mounted on the bezel, these two are pretty much the same. This has given me exactly what I was wanting. I love the dial design of the SKX, 5KX, etc. The SRPE67 really reminds me of something like a Tudor BB36, which I've tried on before and very much like. I have to say though, I much prefer the look and design of the Seiko case. It's one area Seiko seems to always excel. It's affordable enough to take out into the woods on a nato and not worry about banging around, and furthermore, I think it looks good in that environment whereas something like the SLA057 looks so shiny and blingy, it looks out of place. On top of the case, we have a Hardlex crystal. This crystal is more scratch-resistant than regular mineral glass, but it is not as durable as sapphire crystal. It would have been a nice bonus to have a sapphire crystal, but at this price point, it’s not something, at least in my opinion, we can’t take for granted. At first glance, you might say this handset is carried over from the SKX/5KX. That’s only 2/3 of the way true. The hour and second hand have been carried over, but Seiko has made a change to the minute hand. The minute hand appears to be slightly longer, reaching out toward the end of the dial and has a slightly different arrow shape at its tip. Thankfully Seiko decided to give the SRPE55 100 meters of water resistance. This made me feel comfortable doing just about anything with it. I had no issues getting it wet or submerging it in water. The beefy crown guards made me feel secure enough to not have to worry about the crown popping out accidentally. Training load monitoring is typically an attempt to quantify two interrelated relationships: the training load–performance relationship (TL-P) and training load–injury relationship (TL-I) [ 1]. Both of these relationships appear to be quadratic whereby if too much or too little training is completed, there is a higher likelihood of not performing well or becoming injured/ill [ 1, 2]. There are two general TL constructs: internal and external. These constructs, along with their interaction, have been described previously [ 1– 4]. In practice, methods of monitoring TL vary considerably depending on the type of sport or activity [ 3]; however, TL models are commonly analyzed using training impulse, which is normally a product of an intensity factor and volume/duration factor [ 2, 5].
